Launching Threads: Instagram’s New Text-Based App
Meta has released Threads, Instagram’s “text-based” conversation and messaging app where users can post short messages that others can like, share, and comment upon. The posts can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos and videos that can be as long as 5 minutes.
Users can sign up for Threads using their existing Instagram username. Also, if their Instagram account is verified, it will be verified on Threads as well. Their individual feeds will include “threads” posted by creators they follow, as well as recommended threads shared by creators they don’t follow. Users can easily share posts from Threads to their Instagram story or feed.
The app aims to bring communities together to discuss everything from their favourite topics to the latest trends. Users can follow and connect directly with their favourite creators, share ideas and opinions and build a loyal following of their own.
Threads app is now available to download for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play online store in over 100 countries, and has already crossed 100 million sign ups till date.
